Community Groups
Why Community Groups?
Because It’s Who We Are: The Family of God
If we start our “why” with what we want groups to do, we miss what God has already done. In Christ, we’ve been made the people of God. By the gospel, we have been reconciled into a community by a triune God who has eternally dwelt in community. We long to see mature disciples, but our commitment to small groups isn’t first about outcomes—it’s about who we are.
To Experience And Be Transformed By Jesus
The primary goal for Community Groups is to experience Jesus. There is nothing more central to our purpose than to know, enjoy, and be transformed into the likeness of Jesus, and God’s word is abundantly clear: this is intended to happen in community; growth apart from the body is simply incoherent to the scriptures.
To Accomplish God’s Purposes
In Our Church and Cities
It’s only as the people of God in community that we can be a shining city on a hill, and that our love for one another can be a testimony to the world that we belong to Christ. Further, it's as the corporate body of Christ that we are tasked with the mission of Christ to this world, so it’s together that we must share the gospel, make disciples, and care for the needy.
